Review of LAU Process Guidance Notes for Part B operations

Timetable for six year review

Ø  Combustion - started February 2010 - TWGs:

Ø  Minerals - started August - 2010

Ø  Metals - starts January 2011

Ø  Petroleum - starts July 2011

Ø  Others - starts November 2011

Ø  Animal and Vegetable Processing - starts February 2012

Being part of a review is an excellent chance for regulators/operators/trade associations to get their concerns across to Defra – we would particularly like to visit any sites where industry has found compliance difficult or costly (or both) or conversely, where there are examples of innovative/best practice. Continuing Professional Development points are available for anyone who attends a TWG.

Anyone interested in attending any of the TWGs in these sectors should email on LAU@environment-agency.gov.uk with details of which notes they would like to be involved with.

The table below lists the Part B process guidance note drafts for comment.

Draft GN No Draft Title
PG5/2(10) Statutory Guidance for Crematoria
PG1/12(10) Combustion of waste wood

If you are involved in any of the areas please download the relevant guidance note and if you have any comments please send to us on the comment form at least 2 days before the date for comment.

The review process includes issuing of TWG draft for comment then followed by a final public comment phase. Documents for final comment are available from http://www.defra.gov.uk/environment/quality/pollution/ppc/localauth/pubs/guidance/notes/pgnotes/6year-review.htm. If you wish to comment please use the comment form. Download the comment form CLICK HERE
